As a career, nursing now faces a number of personal, interpersonal, professional, institutional, and sociocultural obstacles. The best method to handle these problems is not always obvious. Ethical quandaries may arise because there is no single best way to deal with the wide variety of problems that might arise in any given setting. Nurses must have extensive ethical knowledge and abilities in a variety of decision making processes in order to respond to these complicated concerns. Teaching materials play a crucial role in assisting nurses in this quest; yet, publications covering all of the required material are hard to come by in Ethiopia. Therefore, this lecture note is written to address the critical lack of teaching resources for nurses at all levels that are reflective of the national context.
