The word Yahweh has been replaced with “the Lord”. The Congregation for Divine Worship and
the Discipline of the Sacraments issued a letter on June 29, 2008, which included several directives on
the translation and the pronunciation of the Divine Name as signified in the sacred tetragrammaton in
the Liturgy. The directives indicate that the name of God in the form of the tetragrammaton is neither to
be used nor pronounced in the Liturgy and that the translation of the Divine Name, in accord with
Liturgiam Authenticam no. 41, is to be rendered by the equivalent of Adonai/Kyrios, in English, “Lord.”
• Fonts are now of the same size. In previous editions, some texts from the Old Testament that
are generally not used in the liturgy were in smaller fonts.
• All Proper Names have been revised with their spelling standardized, when necessary.
• Eliminating the small fonts in the OT meant that the number of pages has increased by 168
pages.
